Caramel Chocolate Banana CakeDessert & Salad

Ingredients

    Preparation Time: 15 Mins

    Sponge cake:

    • 200g Chocolate Sponge Cake Mix
    • 80ml Fresh Milk
    • 5 Eggs
    • 70 gms Butter

    Caramel sauce:

    • 100g Caster Sugar
    • 70ml Unsweetened Dairy Cream
    • 25g Salted Butter

    Chocolate Ganache:

    • 100 ml Whole Cream - Chilled
    • 150 gms Bittersweet Chocolate
    • 400 gms Non-Dairy Whipping Cream
    • 2 Ripe Banana - Medium Sized
    • 2-3 tbsp Cocoa Powder – For Dusting Top

How to make Caramel Chocolate Banana Cake

Cooking Time: 40 Mins

For the caramel sauce:

Step 1: Place sugar in a non stick pan, cook over medium heat till sugar dissolves

Step 2: Turn up the heat and let sugar bubble up for couple of mins or till it turns into caramel. Make sure sugar doesn’t burn as the caramel sauce will taste bitter

Step 3: Take the pan off the heat. Add cream and butter. Mix thoroughly. Store it in a jar

For the sponge:

Step 1: Preheat the oven at 180ºC and line the bottom of the cake pan with grease proof paper

Step 2: With an electric beater whisk the sponge cake mix, milk and all the eggs until the mixture turns creamy and fluffy

Step 3: Add melted butter and mix well

Step 4: Pour this batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 20 mins. Check after 20 mins if the knife comes out clear, it’s done and if not then continue baking for 10 more mins

Step 5: Let the sponge cool down and later cut it into 3 horizontal layers

To assemble cake:

Step 1: Start by whipping the cream till it turns thick

Step 2: Start with a layer of sponge cake – place it onto the desired cake plate

Step 3: Spread a thin layer of cream over the cake

Step 4: Slice each banana and lay the parts over the cream until the whole cake is covered

Step 5: Drizzle the chocolate ganache and caramel over the bananas

Step 6: Spread a thicker layer of cream to cover the caramel, ganache and bananas

Step 7: Once covered, place the next layer of cake over the cream and repeat steps 3 to 5 until the last layer is the sponge cake

Step 8: Cover the cake from all the sides with whipped cream

Step 9: Dust cocoa powder on the top of the cake and if desired decorate the cake with whipped cream

Step 10: Refrigerate it for an hour and serve chilled
